Project summary

The TROPHY project tackles the urgent problem of discrimination and hate speech against immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in contemporary society. It is depressing to observe how frequently modern discourse denigrates immigrants, depicting them as threats or inferior entities, given that migration is a fundamental aspect of human history associated with the pursuit of better living conditions. Human rights, especially the right to be free from discrimination, are seriously threatened by the widespread use of hate speech, prejudice, and xenophobia. To counter this, the TROPHY project seeks to educate youth workers and youth about the root causes of discrimination, how social discrimination operates, and how stereotypes are reinforced by the media.

The project aims to improve the perception of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers by arming youth workers with useful tools to dispel stereotypes and foster empathy and solidarity.

The development of youth workers’ professional and personal skills is essential to the TROPHY project’s goals because it empowers them to actively address issues related to migration and promote an environment of acceptance and respect. Youth workers will gain practical knowledge on how to empower and support young people from underprivileged backgrounds, stop hate speech, and advance social cohesion through mobility activities and training sessions. The project seeks to further the development and evolution of the European vision by advancing values of peace, cultural acceptance, and cooperation.
